Music - Austria triumphs at Eurovision 2025 with “Wasted Love” by JJ: Italy fifth with Lucio Corsi - - Varese News

Austria is the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 thanks to the powerful performance of JJ with the song Wasted Love. An intense, original and refined performance that won over the international juries and also held its own in the televoting, thus bringing the title back to Vienna for the third time in the history of the contest.

The podium of the 69th edition was completed by Israel, second thanks to a sensational comeback in the televoting with New Day Will Rise by Yuval Raphael, and Estonia, third with the eccentric and original Tommy Cash and his song Espresso Macchiato.

JJ's path to victory began with a surprisingly compact jury vote: 258 points in total, with Austria in the lead ahead of Switzerland and France. The televoting, while rewarding Israel (297 points) and Estonia (258 points), however, kept the balance in the first position to Austria the final victory.

With this success, Austria achieves its third success in Eurovision history , after Udo Jürgens in 1966 and Conchita Würst in 2014.

Italy also performed well: Lucio Corsi finished in fifth place with 256 points, thanks to an inspired and refined performance. With his Voglio essere un duro, the Tuscan artist was able to combine poetry, irony and musical intensity

Things didn't go as well for Gabry Ponte, who represented San Marino with Tutta l'Italia. Despite an energetic performance and a song designed to make people dance, the artist ranked last with 27 points. The audience, however, reacted with enthusiasm, transforming the arena into a real disco during his performance.

There were also surprises: Switzerland, third after the jury vote (214 points), incredibly received zero points in the televoting, a sign of a strong dissonance between experts and the public. Even France, strong with a classical-style piece, struggled in the popular vote despite a good start.
